Pradnya Prabodhini, Amravati
Even after six decades of our independence, we can see that people living in slum areas of any city and also from rural sector are deprived from the basic needs, i.e. of education, health and social awareness even at the primary stages. Our Amravati District (Maharashtra), situated in Satpuda ranges, represents backwardness in all sectors of life. In our District, nearly 30% of total population lives in tribal areas of Melghat and also in slum area of the different parts of district and city which belongs to Schedule Tribes and V.J.N.T. community. They are lacking of primary and basic needs of life, i.e. education, health and employment. Thousands of children in our area are dying because of malnutrition or unavailability of primary and proper health facilities and illiteracy. This fact is approved by state and central government officials time to time. Apex Govt. Machinery in the District is making appeal on various times to public and NGOs to provide medical, education facilities to all above mentioned area. In other words we can say that only Govt. efforts to solve to above problems are inadequate. Considering the above problems, likeminded persons in Amravati came together and laid the foundation of "Pradnya Prabodhini, Amravati", an organization dedicated to social service on the auspicious day of Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti i.e. 14th April 2003 to provide the services in education, health and social field by the way of charity and missionary zeal. According to our catchword "Seva, Shikshan & Sanskar" Pradnya Prabodhini started providing the services in education, health and cultural activities in slum areas of Amravati city and District.
